Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering

  The international postgraduate program in Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering was established in 1994. The Institute of Molecular Biosciences (MB), situated in the heart of beautiful Salaya Campus, is renowned for being the best research university of Thailand.  The Molecular Genetics and Genetic Engineering program has been continuously improved and tailored the curriculum to serve the needs of the world in this highly fluctuated and rapidly changed social and economic landscape. The program is committed to produce graduates with both scientific and interpersonal skills required to 1) understand fundamental knowledge of molecular biology, 2) be able to apply knowledge to develop biological technology platform to solve complex research problems collaboratively and 3) create meaningful and impact biological innovation to improve everyone’s quality of life.

M.Sc. program

The M.Sc. curriculum consists of one-year course work and one-year research project. There is a possibility of transferring to the Ph.D. program after completion of the first year study, based on the first year academic performance. The course requirements are 24-credit course work including seminars and a 12-credit research thesis.

 

Ph.D. Plan 1:
A research program designed for those who obtained an M.Sc. degree with research experience (publication). No course work is required, only dissertation.

Ph.D. Plan 2.1:
A program designed for those who obtained an M.Sc. degree. Students are expected to undertake at least 12 credits of course work and conduct a research thesis for 36 credits.

Ph.D. Plan 2.2:
A program designed for those who obtained a B.Sc. Degree with a GPA above 3.5. The course requirements are 26-credit course work including seminars and a 48-credit research thesis.

Scholarship

Distinguished students are entitled to receive scholarships from the program.
Scholarships from other sources such as the Royal Golden Jubilee Ph.D. Program of the Thailand Research Fund (TRF) and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) are also available.
